About FreshLit
Read it before you watch it. FreshLit keeps one tidy list of every film and series based on a book, so the book can come first.
Who it is for
- Readers and book clubs choosing the next book while there is still time to finish it before the screen version arrives.
- Viewers who just saw a trailer and want to know whether it is based on a book, and which one.
- Librarians and teachers putting together "read it, then watch it" lists.
- Anyone following entertainment news who wants upcoming adaptations in one calendar instead of scattered announcements.
What it does
For each title, FreshLit answers four questions:
- Is it based on a book? Which book, who wrote it and when it was first published.
- When does it release? The day if it is announced, the month if only the month is known, and a plain "to be announced" otherwise.
- Where will it show? In cinemas or on the streaming service or channel that premieres it.
- How long does the book take to read? A reading time from the page count, set against the days left until release.
You can browse by month, by author or as one long list. The calendar currently covers releases from 2025 to 2027.
How it stays fresh
The data is refreshed every week from open sources and checked by hand for the most anticipated titles. New titles and changed dates show up in the RSS feed. The details of where everything comes from are on how we source.
What it is not
FreshLit does not review films or books, does not rate them and has no accounts or comments. It does not show book covers. When a page offers somewhere to get the book, the first options are always libraries.
Who runs it
FreshLit is published by FreshLit Media. Spotted a wrong date, a missing title or a book that is not really the source? Write to hello@freshlitmedia.com and we will put it right.
